The two open terraces serve as central mainstays for the house, both private & public. The public one divides the interior and exterior of the house offering a breathtaking view of the protected forest, while at the same time serves as a connection for the back garden and the main access area during nighttime.
Pushing the new addition to the back of this site allows a sun-filled pool and garden, and a streetscape expression akin to a garden pavilion; contemporary and street-tough, but a little bit Edwardian in spirit.
The shape, proportions and orientation of the building were developed with reference to the surrounding house structure. Through gentle transitions, the three-storey solid wood house blends harmoniously into the ensemble of the surrounding buildings. The black building with a gable roof, reduced to the essentials, adapts to the hillside location and the landscape, while retaining a self-confident aura.
